In our opinion much better, with no winter salt on the roads in Japan there’s very little corrosion, and due to the very high cost of road toll charges and the driving conditions the cars have an easier life, The Japanese tend to leave the car at home and travel by train, An eight years old car will be in the same condition as a two year old car supplied in the UK.
Vehicles with high value hear in the UK such as big 4×4 and MPV and Motor Camper Vans Also, high performance sports cars.
The choice is yours, you may choose from the stock list and take your time without any pressure as cars come on to the list however if you are looking for something particular then you will have more choice searching the auctions.

First Payment
The first payment (Auction Bid Deposit) this is made at the time of appointment of Jap Auto Agent Ltd. The Deposit demonstrates your intention to complete the purchase. The deposit is fully refundable if we can’t supply the vehicle you require.
Once we have secured your vehicle the deposit becomes committed to the purchase. Our commission is then take from the deposit. If there is a balance after we have taken our commission it will be refunded to the customer.
Second Payment
This is for the (F.O.B. Price) which means (Free on Board). It’s the total cost of the car loaded onto the ship in the Japanese port. Once a vehicle is secured you will receive an invoice for the FOB price. As a guide the F.O.B. Price is just over 50% of the (O.T.R) on the UK road price.
The F.O.B price is made up of 1 / Auction Car Cost 2 / The Japanese Export Company Fees. The Export Company Fees start at Yen 100,000 = £550.00 this is to pay for.
- Buyers commission for attending the auction, inspection, taking photos, and submitting bids.
- De–Registration of the vehicle in Japan and application for an Export Certificate.
- Inland vehicle transport to the Japanese port.

We assist you to buy a vehicle direct from the auction in Japan in your own name. So the vehicle will be invoiced direct to you in Japanese Yen.
Optional, you may use your own high street Bank if you wish, or we can help you get a better rate of exchange than is normally offered by the UK high street Banks.
Third Payment
This payment is made on arrival of the ship at the UK port. This payment is made in GBP direct to the Customs Clearance Agent here in the UK. When the ship arrives at the UK port the Customs Agent will send you an invoice by Email.
This is to pay for 1/ Shipping Charges, 2/ HMRC Duty 10%, 3/ V.A.T. 20%, 4/ Customs Agents Fee. You make one payment to the Customs Clearance Agent and they will make all payments on your behalf.
Once the vehicle has cleared customs it can be collected direct from the UK bonded yard.
We search the next day’s auction online and cherry pick the cars to match with your budget, the Japanese auctions own inspectors carry out background checks on every car in the sale, they also carry out detailed inspections hands on and produce an auction report.
This is the safest way to buy cars in Japan as the auction must comply with domestic Law.
We also inspect the cars hands on before the sale to confirm what is said on the auction report if we see anything we don’t like we simply walk away and look for another car.
After all why should we supply a bad car when it’s no more difficult for us to supply a good car? Plus in doing so we add to our already long standing proven track record, See Our Testimonials, once your car has been found Inspected and purchased at auction the Japanese export company arrange to export your car to the UK port of your choice.

These days shipping time from Japan is between 6 to 10 weeks depending on when the last ship sailed and the availability of the Suez Canal. In recent time the ships have been sailing around south Africa. We can experience longer delays at the back end of the year as new car manufacturers buy up space on the boats at that time.
As a general guide the total time is around two months.
Whatever the Auction car cost is the Japanese Agents export fees will be added. this can vary but start today at JPY120,000 this is the standard method of business throughout the Japanese vehicle export business. This Fee goes to pay for the Buying of the car, De-registration of the car in Japan, Inland transport of the vehicle to the Japanese port. The Japanese Auction Buyers fees, includes the Buyers fees, Plus Recycle fees, Port Handling, Postage of vehicle documents. All the cars purchased for export have to pay the Japanese Agents fee.

Imported vehicles Under Ten Years Old require an IVA Test, this is a Type Approval Inspection carried out by the VDSA. This has to be done before application for registration at the DVLA.
IVA testing is carried-out by UK Government department VDSA formally VOSA who come under the Department of Transport. The IVA Test is to establish that a vehicle under ten years old is suitable to be used on the UK roads from a Type Approval point of view, This is not an MOT Test, Vehicles that are over ten years old do not require IVA Testing. Just an MOT only before registration at the DVLA.
No. Over ten years old vehicles require a MOT Test only before registration at the DVLA the vehicle will still need to have the Speedo re-calibrated and a Fog Light fitted.
This is not as difficult as you may first think, I will assist you with the preparation of documents for registration at the DVLA.
For sure yes in truth this has been well over played for a long time now.
There are many independent parts suppliers opened up to take advantage of this massive market and offer very competitive prices, also many of the main stream motor factories throughout the UK now supply parts, But if you found you were having difficulty we can put you in contact with parts suppliers based in Japan who will supply parts.

First and foremost, a big thank you to Paul for the time and reassurance in helping me with making such a big financial commitment to personally import direct from Japan my Mitsubishi Delica D5. After looking for the ‘right Delica D5’ for two years in the UK and only coming close once but at an exorbitant price, my wife gave me an ultimatum, import or get out!!
This is the second car I have imported through Paul direct from Japan, the first was a Nissan Stagier 2.5i Turbo Estate and again now with this Nissan Elgrand both of these cars turned out to be excellent with a large amount of details and photos Paul and his colleague in Japan provided it removes any doubt you may have about the import process, If your considering buying a Japanese imported car then I would recommend using the service provided by Paul at Japautoagent Ltd
I would like to say thanks to Japautoagent for finding us a great car. We purchased a 2002 Elgrand X grade in 4.5 codition and i have to say it has exceeded our expectations. For an 11 year old car with 45k miles it is incredibly clean. Before the number plates went on the car everyone who saw it thought i had imported a brand new motor!
Paul has sourced a VW Golf Estate and now an Audi A1 Sportsback, both petrol autos, from Japan for me. I found Paul to be knowledgable and diligent throughout the buying process from understanding my requirements, finding and sending details of suitable cars for consideration and then instructing bidding on the target car.
Well done again Japautoagent Ltd” This is the second Nissan Elgrand Highway Star I have bought through Paul. This time I got a Grade 4.5 and just as with my previous Elgrand Highway Star it’s in superb condition with very low mileage, worth every penny.
The spec I demanded would have sent most importers running in horror but Paul just got on with finding it! and find it he did …. down to the very last item – EXACTLY my car, the right colour, interior, mileage, age right down to the right aftermarket extras with service history and in a condition you can only dream of. So if you looking for a import agent you can talk to and get a “feeling” for what you want over and above any description you can put in writing, or if you are totally new to importing cars from Japan and need honest help, Then look no further.
Telephone 01625 560505 or 07989 560505 & ask for Paul.
